Professional Regulation

Since the necessary changes in professional standards required by regulation 2010-11, the BIH continuously monitors new applicants wishing to join as practitioner members. Both new and existing members agree to uphold these standards through the BIH Code of Ethics. This includes being registered with the ICO, achieving annual CPD, holding adequate and current insurance that covers them in the work they carry out with clients. In addition, they also agree to maintain a professional 'fitness' to practise ethically with members of the public they serve.

The professional standards set by the profession (2010-11) are also those agreed by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). In this respect the BIH has through a separate validation process, met the standards which enable the organisation to verify hypnotherapy practitioners who wish to also join the CNHC as 'registrants'. See more details on the Welcome Members Page.
